Brightroot is seeking to employ a Kitchen Cook at The Mint Dispensary’s Tempe location.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Kitchen Staff works in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment helping to create and prepare delicious meals and baked goods.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates new and exciting hot-food menu items.
  • Maintains appropriate stock quantities.
  • Responsible for prep work of kitchen to streamline cooking and meal preparation.
  • Responsible for plating of food.
  • Responsible for cleanliness of work area.
  • Must always monitor inventory and report items that need to be reordered.
  • Responsible for receiving incoming food orders and rotating stock.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean uniform.
  • Operates, maintains and, closes a cash drawer register.
  • Presents a clean and safe facility.
  • Assists patients with product selection in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Processes patient orders and payments utilizing POS software.
  • Assists management staff in the general operation of the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as cook.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc)
  • Applicant must be twenty-one (21) years of age; pursuant to A.R.S. §36-2801.10
  • Applicant must consent to a criminal background check performed by the Company and/or the Arizona Department of Health Services, pursuant to A.R.S. § 36-2804.01
  • Employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of the criminal background check conducted by the Arizona Department of Health Services, pursuant to A.R.S. § 36-2804.01 and A.R.S. §36-2801.10
  • Culinary Degree Preferred
  • Valid Food Handlers License
  • Valid Arizona Drivers License
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate Point of Sale systems.
  • General knowledge of the use of medicinal cannabis and related products.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • General knowledge of cannabis products including product brands and types.
  • General knowledge of cannabis product regulations including dispensing procedures and patient transaction limits.
  • Excellent skills in basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge of kitchen sanitation.
  • Basic knife handling skills.
  • Basic reading and math skills.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to measure ingredients accurately.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions.
